Ed Whitby

Role: Operations Director.

Length of service: 18 years.

Background: I grew up in South Cheshire, attended Sandbach School and the University of Derby, and worked at Majestic Wine before joining the family business.

Values I share with Whitby Morrison: A strong work ethic, trust, loyalty, quality, attention to detail, customer service and family values.

If I could snap my fingers and become an expert in something, it would it be: Mind reading.

One thing most people don’t know about me: I occasionally crack a smile.

When I was kid, I wanted to grow up to be: A footballer or a football manager, both quite unrealistic then and now.

In a movie about my life, the actor playing me would be: Balthazar Getty.

At the weekend, you’re most likely to find me: Fishing, watching football, having a pint with friends or possibly spending time with my family. I also have a keen interest in fine wines and enjoy cooking.

Dog person or cat person? Cat.

My favorite sport to watch and team I support is: Football – Crewe Alexandra and England.

The best things about my job are: Being part of a strong and successful team and the feeling that we are Whitby Morrison, and Whitby Morrison is us. Whatever ups and downs we experience we’re still here making things happen.

My favourite film is: If I try to watch I film I just fall asleep.

My favourite food is: Pasta, sometimes when cooked by myself.

My favorite quote is: “Always give back a little more than you take”, my Grandad (Bryan Whitby) taught me this.

I will never be seen without: My phone.

Whitby Morrison is like: Pandora’s box; you never quite know what lies behind the door – but you can be sure it’ll be fascinating and you’ll end up wanting more.
