Mike Bennett

Role: Stores Manager.

Joined the company: 2018.

Background: I grew up in Sandbach and attended the boys’ school there. Since studying accountancy and computers at college I have worked for Safeway, Waitrose and HW Coates in Middlewich before I got the opportunity to come to Whitby Morrison.

Values I share with Whitby Morrison: Working as part of a team to do a good job. Keeping high standards and having pride in what you are doing.

If I could snap my fingers and become an expert in something, it would it be: I’d love to be a good car mechanic, it would save me a few quid!

One thing most people don’t know about me: I played in the front row for the North of England rugby team when I was 16.

When I was kid, I wanted to grow up to be: A fighter pilot. Surely everyone wanted that?

In a movie about my life, the actor playing me would be: Colson Smith.

At the weekend, you’re most likely to find me: Either doing something with my kids or out fishing. Unfortunately I can’t combine both because they’re not into fishing!

Dog person or cat person? Both.

My favorite sport to watch and team I support is: Football – Crewe Alex. I’ll watch any sport but I have a season ticket at the Alex.

The best things about my job are: Just the atmosphere of the company in general. The trust and respect we have for each other as we work together to do a good job for the customers. Coming to work here is never a chore.

My favourite film is: Shawshank Redemption.

My favourite food is: You can’t beat a good Sunday roast!

My favorite quote is: “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”

I will never be seen without: My smartwatch. I never take it off.

Whitby Morrison is like: An F-16 fighter jet because we are going places – fast!
