The New Ford Transit

The very latest Ford Transit model arrives with the prestigious title of International Van of the Year 2007. The bold styling, complete with the solid and contemporary design conveys a highly professional attitude for this seriously impressive new vehicle. This stronger profile has been achieved by introducing a bold new two bar grille, increased vertical headlight treatment; new wheels and exterior trim detailing as well as the raising of the cowl height.

The new Ford Transit's car-like interior is spacious, ergonomic and equipped with sophisticated technology to make your life easier. Cruise control and satellite navigation are two of many options available to compliment other innovative features including the elevated dash-mounted gear shifter, new instruments, switchgear and steering wheel and arguably the most important 'walk-through' cabin.

The ownership of a new Ford Transit has become a significantly more attractive proposition with added style and finesse including extended component life, in many cases to 250,000 miles. A new instrument panel sub structure for improved structural integrity, reduction in general noise, vibration and harshness as well as coated panels in areas particularly prone to corrosion all demonstrate the Transit's key strengths.

Six diesel engines form the backbone of the new Transit's powertrain family. Each power unit features four valves per cylinder, enhancing clean emissions and overall efficiency. Rear wheel drive Transits feature a choice of three 2.4-litre diesel engines: 100PS/285Nm, 115PS/310Nm and 140PS/375Nm. Servicing intervals for all diesels is 15,000 miles or one year, except for the 2.4-litre 140PS TDCi which is up to 30,000 miles or two years.

The new Ford Transit shares the same driving dynamics as today's modern passenger car. Significant changes include the relocation of the front anti-roll bar and addition of a new, quicker steering ratio. Ventilated front and rear solid discs, anti-lock braking system and brake traction control system are among many additions introduced to enhance the overall driving experience.

Security is an important consideration for everybody, that is why Ford have launched the new Transit with a full suite of security measures, including; two levels of alarm and hood lock cable free doors. More significant is the industry's first configurable locking and unlocking security system and 'Guide me home' lighting.

Safety is a prime consideration in 21st Century Mobiling. In developing the new Transit, Ford have further enhanced their recognised safety system with several improvements and additions. ABS and EBS are now standard across the entire model range. The redesigned front structure further enhances low speed impact resistance. The drivers' airbag is standard which can be supported with the optional 120-litre passenger airbag.
